European Court for Human Rights Rejects Croat Suit Against Slovene Bank

A lawsuit by three Croats against a Slovene bank was turned down nine years after it was filed. The three were seeking to recover funds they deposited into Ljubljanska Banka bank - now Nova Ljubljanska Banka. The deposits were made before Slovenia succeeded from the former Yugoslavia, and the Slovene government has said the new bank did not inherit the old bank's debts. The Court said two of the depositors had already been compensated and the third had to sue in a Croatian court. I'm not really familiar with the details, but I can't understand why it took 9 years to decide this. Apparently 140,000 Croatians would like their money back, and this ruling isn't going to help. Where did all that money go exactly? I did take a trip to Slovenia this summer and thought it was great. Hmm... maybe it was that extra money they had to work with... For more, read on here.
